A Sitting Duck

For a duck waiting to be shot at, it seems a little too calm. Is it because it does not know of the impending doom or is it getting ready to fly at the sound of the first gunshot or has it already given. What is in the duck's mind belonged to the duck, just as the hunter's thought remain to himself. What would happen if they both happened to share their thought for a second? The duck would fly and the hunter would curse of course. But what if only the duck's thought is revealed to the hunter? Would there be any difference? Would the hunter think twice about shooting at the duck? No. There may be a possibility that things would be different for them, but the sitting duck will be shoot at, whether it continues sitting or tries to fly or even fight. Nothing changes the fact that it is a sitting duck and there's a hunter waiting to shoot at it. And he will.
